What we do

Three core services that keep older people in our community connected, supported, and independent.

Free services for older people in Romsey

Everything we do starts with the same belief: that no older person in our community should feel isolated, forgotten, or unable to access the support they need. Our three core services are free at the point of use and open to anyone who needs them.

We currently support over 320 people a year across Romsey and the surrounding area. All services are delivered by a combination of paid staff and trained volunteers.

Service 01

The day centre

Our day centre is a warm, welcoming space where older people come together for meals, activities, and companionship. It's more than a social club — it's a lifeline for many of our members who would otherwise spend most of their week alone.

  • Hot two-course lunch served every session

  • Weekly activities including arts, crafts, and gentle exercise

  • Transport to and from the centre arranged on request

  • Health monitoring and welfare checks by trained staff

Service 02

Befriending calls

A regular, friendly phone call from a trained volunteer to an older person who may have little social contact. It sounds simple — and it is — but the impact is profound. For many of our members, this call is the highlight of their week.

  • Weekly calls from a matched, trained volunteer

  • Consistent pairing — same volunteer, same time each week

  • Transport to and from the centre arranged on request

  • Health monitoring and welfare checks by trained staff

Service 03

Community transport

Getting to a medical appointment or the day centre shouldn't be a barrier. Our volunteer drivers provide door-to-door transport for older people who can't use public transport or don't have family nearby to help.

  • Door-to-door collection and return

  • Medical appointments, day centre, and local activities

  • Trained, DBS-checked volunteer drivers

  • Accessible vehicles available on request
